Non Digital game assessment - Part one

Non Digital game assessment - Part one

So we have been given an assignment today to make a non-digital game. The game we have to make is based on a theme and and some constraints, see below.

The theme of the game is "Secrets and Lies"

  • You are tasked with coming up with a game that is a response to the above
  • You should think about the kinds of game mechanics that most appropriately allow you to explore this theme
  • The game can take any form (Card, Board etc) and be for any number of players.
  • The game should last no longer than 30 minutes in total.
  • The game rules should be no more than two sides of A4 (including accompanying diagrams)
So that is it. They are the constraints laid out before us and what we need to stick to when making our game based on this theme.

Mechanics to think about?
  • Hidden information
  • False informations
  • Player interaction
  • Trading
  • Diplomacy
What I think will be the course of action from here is to do some research on boardgames containing these mechanics seeing what works well and what doesn't then seeing what I can come up with using ideas generated from playing these other types of games.
